Farsala suffered
during the Second World War because of its location.
It was bombarded
during the first days of April 1941
by German airplanes, which caused many damages
to the city. It also paid a heavy price for the
participation of its residents in the National
Resistance.
The city was set on
fire by the Italians at the end of March
1943 and approximately
200 people were executed in retaliation for the
partisans' action.
